[Try-Yaru Week] Coffee Workshop Held at Nada Sakura Special Needs School

On Wednesday, October 21, we once again held a coffee workshop at Kobe Municipal Nada Sakura Special Needs School as part of the Try-Yaru Week program. Two students from the Junior High Division, Physical Disabilities Department, took part. Together with the students, we went through the entire process, from roasting coffee beans in a frying pan to grinding the beans and brewing the coffee.

There was also a time when the students dressed up as café staff and served the coffee they had brewed to us. Around the coffee, we shared lots of conversation and smiles. The students, who were nervous at first, gradually began to smile more as they experienced the sound and aroma of the beans popping in the frying pan, the sight of the beans turning into grounds, and the fragrance of the freshly brewed coffee. We could tell they were enjoying coffee through all five senses, and it made us happy as well.

The coffee we used this time was grown by producers with disabilities in Colombia, as part of our company’s “Diverse Coffee Project.” We will continue to connect every step of “from seed to cup” (the entire process from coffee production to a single cup of coffee) through passion, pride, and smiles, regardless of whether or not people have disabilities. We will also continue to actively support our local community, as a member of it, so that as many children as possible can thrive in society through coffee.
