Our company participated in the 2nd Forest Academy hosted by SEF, held in Chiba Prefecture’s Hyuga no Mori. Through site visits and thinning experiences, we learned about the ideal management of a “corporate forest,” focusing on carbon neutrality through forest management and timber utilization, as well as biodiversity conservation.
This year, we have relaunched our “Woody Minami Forest Project.” Based on the TNFD framework, this project aims to create a new forest in Tamba no Mori, focusing on biodiversity and natural regeneration. The Forest Academy provided invaluable experiences and insights that will contribute significantly to this project.
The thinning experience, in particular, left a lasting impression. Felling a large cedar tree and hearing its resounding crash brought home the majesty of trees and the preciousness of nature. Furthermore, while walking through the forest, we had the opportunity to hear from expert on the theme of biodiversity, deepening our understanding of the close relationship between forest creation and living organisms.
Moving forward, we will leverage the knowledge gained at the Forest Academy to promote biodiversity conservation and community interaction through the “Woody Minami Forest Project”.
