Coffee SDGs Class Held at Rokko Island High School

On July 29, we conducted a Coffee SDGs Class for 27 first-year students as part of the Summer Career Planning Program at Rokko Island High School in Kobe.

Under the theme, “Let’s Explore the Connections Between Coffee, the World, and Our Future,” students learned about the relationship between coffee, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and sustainability, gaining a deeper understanding of the social and environmental issues surrounding coffee.

In the second half of the class, students participated in a workshop titled “Creating a Sustainable Coffee Shop.” Working in groups, they developed and presented proposals for their own sustainable coffee shop concepts. Through discussions on topics such as what makes a coffee shop environmentally friendly and how businesses can contribute to society and the well-being of people, the students had the opportunity to think practically about sustainability.

Exploring SDGs and sustainability through the lens of coffee provided a valuable learning experience not only for the students but also for our employees, who gained new insights and perspectives through the exchange of ideas.

We will continue to create opportunities for mutual learning through collaboration with local communities and educational institutions, contributing to the realization of a more sustainable society.
